WizKids Offers Refunds for Baldur’s Gate 3 Minis Flop
WizKids Offers Refunds for Baldur’s Gate 3 Miniatures After Rocky Launch
Remember that buzz last week about the new Baldur’s Gate 3 miniatures from WizKids? Yeah, turns out they didn’t exactly land with the grace of a high-rolled Acrobatics check. Following significant feedback from disappointed fans, WizKids is now stepping up and offering refunds to anyone who wasn’t happy with their purchase.
In a public statement, WizKids acknowledged the situation:
“As a company, WizKids seeks to create products that enhance and add to the enjoyment of game play,” their announcement reads. “We want our customers to build long-lasting, fond memories around game nights with friends and family using our products.”
“Unfortunately, we missed the mark on this goal with the D&D Icons of the Realms: Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set. If you purchased this set through our online stores, we will be offering a full refund to those who are unsatisfied with their set.”
It sounds like the message loud and clear – the community wasn’t shy about sharing their thoughts on the quality of these figures.

WizKids also mentioned they are actively investigating the reported issues and are taking steps to make things right, with a commitment to preventing similar problems in future releases.
What Went Wrong?
The D&D Icons of the Realms: Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set, priced at $49.99, began shipping out to customers last week. Initial reactions were… well, let’s just say surprised. Buyers opened their boxes to find figures with what were described as strange paint jobs, less-than-stellar detail, and a particularly infamous-looking Withers that appeared to be, shall we say, structurally challenged.
This wasn’t the grand reveal fans were hoping for after falling in love with Larian’s massive RPG hit.
Getting Your Refund or Replacement
If you were one of the folks who felt let down by the quality of the minis, WizKids is offering a couple of paths to a resolution:
- Online Purchase: If you bought the set directly from their online store, you can shoot an email to [email protected] to kick off the refund process.
- Local Retailer Purchase: Head back to the store where you bought them! You should be able to return the set there for a full refund.
On top of refunds, WizKids is also providing an option for a product replacement. You can request one through their official replacement site. They’ve stated they will strive to provide a replacement that “meets the standards expected.” Hopefully, this means improved paint jobs and properly formed figures!
Not the Mini-Sized send-off Fans Hoped For
While getting your money back or a replacement is better than being stuck with sub-par minis, it’s certainly not the perfect outcome for those eager to display their favorite Baldur’s Gate 3 companions. The dream of having a perfectly painted party guarding your desk will have to wait, or perhaps be sought from other miniature creators.
This happens just as Larian Studios themselves are wrapping things up with Baldur’s Gate 3. They recently released Patch 8, which they confirmed is the final major update for the game that absolutely captivated the gaming world in 2023.
As for Larian’s future, CEO Swen Vincke has given us a few breadcrumbs, confirming their next project will not be Baldur’s Gate 4 or anything Dungeons & Dragons related. Beyond that, however, details are under tight wraps. Guess we’ll just have to patiently wait and see what magic they cook up next!
So, if your Baldur’s Gate 3 minis didn’t live up to expectations, don’t despair! WizKids is offering a solution. Let’s hope any replacement figures (or future releases) meet the quality standards fans deserve.
